AI and data are becoming increasingly important for companies seeking to comply with new requirements such as emissions reporting and traceability. The National Board of Trade Sweden shows how trade policy can support the digital and green transition.
However, there is a risk that not all countries will keep pace with the green and digital transition (twin transition), which could widen disparities between countries and companies.
“Trade policy can reduce barriers to environmental technologies and digital services, while also helping to establish common rules and standards between countries. This makes it easier for companies to invest and trade internationally,” says trade policy adviser Shasa Aziz Baker.
