Digital trade, telecommunications and investment are among the areas where the EU and CPTPP could deepen their cooperation, according to a new analysis by the National Board of Trade Sweden.
Together, the EU and CPTPP account for a significant share of the global economy and global trade. At the same time, interest in closer cooperation between the two has grown in recent years. This analysis finds that trade in services is not a major obstacle to deeper cooperation between the EU and CPTPP.
– The most realistic option is pragmatic and gradual cooperation between the EU and CPTPP rather than full EU accession to the agreement, says Hillevi Pårup, Trade Policy Adviser at the National Board of Trade Sweden.
