Trade after the US increased tariffs

Trade flows are influenced by far more than US tariffs, and it is not yet possible to determine the effects that new US tariffs have had on trade in goods. The statistics nevertheless provide a good overview of how trade has changed after tariffs were introduced, as well as changes compared with previous years.

US goods exports have shown a downward trend since the tariffs were introduced in April 2025, but are still higher during the period April–August 2025 compared with the same period in 2024.

Overall, EU goods exports are down 5 per cent compared with the same period in 2024.
