A new analysis points to concrete opportunities for closer cooperation between the EU and CPTPP on agriculture and food, which could strengthen trade and support more predictable rules.

The analysis highlights that closer cooperation can build on existing EU free trade agreements with CPTPP countries, focusing on sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures and sustainable food systems where there is already some alignment.

"There are several realistic and relatively straightforward pathways to deeper cooperation, particularly through capacity building, technical cooperation and the digitalisation of administrative processes," says Alicia Barker-Åström, Trade Policy Adviser at the National Board of Trade.
